The train ride was a pleasant three hour tip, the scenery was beautiful, with lots of trees and farms. There was excellent wifi aboard so we studied hotels for QUEBEC CITY online...and decided since it was our first night off Thistle (in 8 weeks) we would splurge and reserve a room for one night at the famous Chateau Frontenac... Very Special !
Once we arrived in QUEBEC CITY we took a taxi to the Chateau, relaxed in our beautiful room and strolled around Vieux-Quebec. For dinner we decided on an outdoor cafe where we loved people watching, and had a pate and cheese platter with a bottle of wine...a most enjoyable evening with a view of Vieux-Quebec illuminated for the evening.
Monday morning we walked to the Citadelle de Quebec and watched the "Changing of the Guard" followed by an interesting guided tour of The Gouverneur General Residence. The afternoon was a fun adventure, walking to the Marche Du Vieux-Port and finding a place to sleep for the night...we chose the Masion du General a funky five story walk up stone building built in 1775 with a little outside deck and great view of the Saint Louis Street and a church steeple. Early Monday evening we met some water polo friends and their family for social hour along the Saint Lawrence River Promenade, and for dinner we voted on a repeat from last night...rather than people watch we watched a rain storm from the covered outside patio (Romantic XO).
This morning we walk around another part of QUEBEC CITY and are now on the train heading back home to Thistle in Montreal.
Looper Tip: Originally we planned to take Thistle for the 250 plus mile round trip from Montreal to QUEBEC CITY but decided (and agree it was a great idea) to take the train (avoiding currents, fuel cost and time). A perfect 2 night "get away" but missing Loop Life and Thistle :)
