PENTWATER to HOLLAND

Good morning :)

We set our alarms to wake up at 6 AM! Well before sunrise we pushed off the dock in PENTWATER.  It was perfect weather conditions (light wind, clear skies and no waves) for our almost 90 mile journey to HOLLAND.

HOLLAND isn't a typical Looper stop, but we had an engine scare on Thistle while traveling to LUDINGTON. We appeared to be using extra coolant, not a good sign? In LUDINGTON we had Thistle's engine checked ... unfortunately, the results were not good :(

Captain Greg made an appointment with a diesel engine mechanic at Eldean's Shipyard in HOLLAND. After a coolant compression test, we are more than happy to report that Thistle was given a clean bill of health. It turns out that the LUDINGTON mechanic was using gas engine values and we are diesel. The coolant issue was solved by fixing a couple of loose hose clamps :) We are ready to go.... if only we could get some good weather?

There was a Small Craft Advisory issued for the next two days. We decided to rent a car for a couple of days and celebrate our 32nd wedding Anniversary, while enjoying the sights of Michigan.

After a nice two days of sightseeing, the weather report looks good for tomorrow. We were very fortunate to secure a dock for Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend in Saugatuck, Michigan.

Looper Tip: The Eldean Shipyard was recommended on the AGLCA daily Blog. (We think that it's a great idea to subscribe and read.)

Pre Anniversary Delmonico Steak BBQ at our dock.

Our Anniversary adventure around Michigan: Lunch at Blue Fish in Manistee, Downtown Market in Grand Rapid and a romantic dinner and stay at the Riverside Inn in Leland.

Downtown HOLLAND even has a windmill:)

Happy Anniversary from HOLLAND, Michigan.
